Ways to Give
The Samaritan Program at Hermitage Richmond
The Samaritan Program is a benevolent mission at Pinnacle Living that provides financial assistance to residents who have outlived their monetary resources and, through no fault of their own, can no longer afford the full cost of their care. Benevolent assistance has been given in Pinnacle Living communities since 1948, the year the organization was founded.
Current estimates of people over the age of 100 in this country are as high as 72,000, and the number is only expected to grow. Yet with ever-increasing longevity, more and more of us wonder if we will be able to financially support ourselves into our 80s, 90s, even possibly our 100s. Financial reversals and unforeseen circumstances can be contributing factors to needing help from the Samaritan Program.
You can have a vital role in the continuation of this legacy through a gift to the Samaritan Program. 100% of contributions to the Samaritan Program are tax-deductible and go directly to the financial support of residents in need and are not used for operational, capital, or administrative costs. All gifts to the Samaritan Program are tax-deductible gifts and help us ensure the personal security and peace of mind for our most vulnerable residents.
Every gift is deeply appreciated and sure to have a direct benefit to residents of our communities. Here are a few different ways you can make a gift:
Contributions can be made online with a credit or debit card or by check.
To donate by check, please make your check payable to Hermitage Richmond, noting “Samaritan Fund” in the memo line, and mail to:

Whether you choose to leave a donation in your will or ask one of your heirs to make a donation in your honor, any donation is always greatly appreciated.
- You can name our organization as one of your beneficiaries to your estate.
- If you wish to leave your will untouched, you can ask your heirs to carry out your wishes.
If you are leaving most of your assets to your spouse, children, grandchildren, a few close friends, etc., you could arrange with one or more of them to donate a portion of their inheritance to us in your memory. They would get an income tax deduction for the gift when they make it, reducing the cost to them.
Most people won’t need all the money in their IRA or other retirement plan. If you leave the remainder to your heirs, there will be income tax to pay, and maybe state or federal estate taxes. If you leave the remainder to us, there will be no taxes due. Changing the beneficiary of an IRA is not difficult to do. Simply request a change of beneficiary form from the company managing the plan and follow the instructions.
You can make our organization a beneficiary of your life insurance policy. You have probably named your spouse, children or other relative as the beneficiary. We are not suggesting that you change that, but if you are able, to please include us too. Whatever you choose, we greatly appreciate that you considered us! As with the gift from an IRA, it is a fairly simple matter to request a change of beneficiary form from the insurance company and follow the instructions.
No gift is too small. Gifts may be made to honor or memorialize a friend or loved one.
