Hermitage Richmond is a vibrant community for people who like to plan ahead to maintain control and enjoy life on their terms. With extensive experience caring for all of our residents, Hermitage Richmond offers our community an array of elegant homes in a walkable historic neighborhood. Here you are supported by a professional team and a complete continuum of care. As a not-for-profit community, we focus intently on the people who make the community their home and the team that serves them.
Our goal is to be like the close-knit neighborhoods where many of us grew up. Hermitage Richmond offers people the ability to contribute to the greater good, make new friends, cherish old friends and family, and give themselves and the ones they love the gift of a plan.
Residents at all levels of living control and direct their lives. They have the option to be as private as they choose and actively involved in the community.
Our residents take advantage of these services:
Over Hermitage Richmond’s more than 70 year history, we have always been and will remain intently focused on the lives of the people who call our community home.
A trend that we have embraced and championed for our residents and staff can be summed up in the phrase “person-centered.” The core of our person-centered approach shapes specific parts of our community into unique personal households or neighborhoods. It changes the institutions of assisted living, nursing or memory care into a homelike environment — like the one people had to leave when their needs changed.
One of the conscious changes being made is to move from an institutional to a more informal, homey approach. The person-centered approach removes attempts to schedule and control residents’ lives and gives autonomy and freedom back to them…that’s why people choose to call our communities “home.”
Each day is informal, like a day in our own home, and results in a truly rewarding and satisfying daily life for residents and team members alike. Why would we ask anyone to give up home, just when they need it the most?
Come visit and see for yourself our person-centered approach at Hermitage Richmond. Call (804) 474 1800 today!

I just want to say how much I appreciate the over-the-top care the staff in McGuire Park have given my mother, over the years since she’s been there. She has received good care from the other staff at the Hermitage as well, for which we are very appreciative, but the folks at McGuire Park
